St. Johnsbury Jailbreak

SAINT JOHNSBURY- At 10:30am Thursday morning, State Police reported that two inmates of the Northeast Correctional Facilty escaped while working outside on chopping wood for a wood pile. The two were identified as Glenn Garvey, 23 of Brandon, and Nathan Jones, 25 of Washington.
"We immediately had a detective who walked in and another uniformed officer. They followed the tracks until we could get a canine to the area," said Lt. Michael Henry. They coordinated with the St. Johnsbury Police Department, Essex County Sheriffs, and aerial support from he U.S. Customs and Border Patrol helicopters.
"The canine played a very good role as far as pursuing the two suspects. Like I said initially with the snow out there, snow covered, we had a detective who actually followed the tracks and continued following the tracks until the canine was able to meet up with them at a certain point," said Lt. Henry.
The two were tracked to a wooded area between West Hill and County Hill roads in Saint Johnsbury and were taken into custody around 1:15pm. "They didn't try to run, once the officers encountered them. They pretty much gave up at that point, I believe they were probably tired," said Lt. Henry.
The border control helicopter that was called in played an important role throughout the man hunt, as it was able to survey the area and prevent the inmates from getting to far without being seen.
Garvey was in jail due to violations of his probation and was originally incarcerated due to charges of burglary, theft, possession of drugs, and disorderly conduct. Jones was incarcerated for aggravated operation without the owners consent, a third driving under the influence offense, leaving the scene of an accident, attempting to allude, driving while license was suspended, and gross negligent operation.
Both Garvey and Jones are now back at the Northeast Correctional Facility and are waiting to be arraigned on felony charges Friday.
