Danville Town Meeting

The meeting in Danville was lengthier this year compared to years past due to the dispute over the the town's budget.

Residents felt that it has become too expensive to live in the town and the rough economy has hit many families.  Despite these arguments, no changes were made to the $548,000.00 budget. Among other issues, Danville voted to request that Vermont Yankee shut down in 2012.  They also decided not to vote on an amendment to adopt Australian Ballot because  the wording was incorrect.

Jeff Frampton, chairman of the planning commission, said, "Personally, I like the idea of having a community discussion where we can talk openly about the issues and make decision and I think that with an Australian Ballot it's basically a yes or no decision where the tradition in this town and a lot of the towns has been you can talk about things and compromise and come to a good resolution."
