Concord High School

Voters had their chance to bring up issues with the agenda Monday night, but Town Meeting Day in Concord, centered on voting by an Australian Ballot.

Residents filed into the town hall to help create Concords future plans. One of the issues was taking $40,000 from the Connecticut River Enhancement Fund to make improvements to Shadow Lake Road. Another article was whether or not to purchase a new town truck with a plow to help the road maintenance, which passed.

One of the biggest topics regarded article 8, closing the high school,to focus more on the elementary school, which didn't pass. Some residents like Heather Heiser, agree that it is the right move to make, "Well I guess the school closing is the big one this time, you know, I guess I was hoping they would close the high school...I doubt that will happen and I want all those school budgets and things like that to pass but I'd like them to focus more on the elementary school and less on the high school cause we don't have that many high school kids anyway."

The town will raise disabled veterans' exemptions from 10,000 dollars to 40,000 dollars of property appraisals. Concord had a heated five way race to fill two vacated seats on the select board, the two taking those seats are James Gochie, for the two year term, and Thomas Brown for the three year term.
