VAC-CON Rental

LYNDON- Lyndon will be renting out its VAC-CON vacuum truck to other towns. This could aid other towns in their post-Irene clean-up process.
Tropical Storm Irene left large amounts of flooding in its wake. It also left many clogged and backed up storm drains. But with VAC-CON trucks costing upwards of $100,000 in used condition, it's an expensive investment for a town to make.
Lyndon is looking to solve this problem, and make some extra revenue while doing it. Lyndon will rent out their vacuum truck to other towns that need to use it for $175 dollars per hour. Town Manager Dan Hill sees this as a good opportunity for the town.
"It would be a great revenue source for us because that truck cost a lot of money and it has a lot of downtime just because of our needs. If we rent it out to other municipalities, it would definitely become a revenue source to help pay for itself," Hill explained. Though the town is renting the vacuum truck to other towns, the select board decided not to rent the vacuum truck out privately to other people.
