Town School Faces Criticism

LYNDON - Parents came forward and expressed their frustration to the Lyndon Town School Board with the way the school is being handled. They believe the school needs change.

Parents attended the Lyndon Town School's monthly meeting on November 7th, to bring up concerns of "bullying" in the school. One parent, who spoke on behalf of other parents, claimed that she had witnessed the "bullying" in action. She told the board that she went to the principal and then to the administration.

The parent says that she believes these children are being targeted by those other than students.  She believes the students because their parents are speaking out about the school's flaws and the things that need to be changed.

Brian Carroll of the Caledonia North Supervisory Union explained that the meeting is an open public forum and people are free to express their displeasures, but unfortunately an immediate answer to a problem cannot always be given.

The board said that they could not take any actions or hear any further, because they must hear from all involved parties and there is a process that must be followed. They suggested that anyone with concerns should send a written letter to the administration so they could have a chance to take action or send the case up for the board to handle.

Parents also pointed out that others are now afraid to voice their opinion for fear that their children would also be targeted.

The Lyndon Town School's next meeting will be held on December 5th.
