Island Pond residents have had a change of heart when it comes to selling Essex County's only airport. Residents voted in favor of selling the John H. Boylan Airport at Tuesday's town meeting. The Airport would be sold to the Vermont Energy Company to produce wood pellets. At a series of February meetings many people spoke up to save the airport, but those in the town are now saying they are in favor of the sale. The proposition passed in a three hundred and twenty six to seventy four vote in a non-binding advisory to endorse the plan. Locals are saying that they want the jobs that the wood pellet factory will provide to the community.
