The National Christmas Tree Association has organized a tree for troops drive.
Christmas tree farms all over Vermont and New Hampshire are donating trees to military families. Tester's Star Tree Farm in Barton is one of the locations that has been donating such trees since the war in Iraq began.
Bill Tester of Tester's Star Farm says that his farm has been doing it since the beginning, "The local national guard would come here and ask me to donate some trees for their families, so we started donating trees and they would go over to Burlington.  And then about four years ago it became more organized through the national Christmas Tree Association and we got involved with that and we started shipping you know donating trees for the trees for troops.”
This year tester's star farm donated ten trees this year.
Military families with the vouchers can go pick up any tree they want.
