With the snow melting and signs of spring popping up, the local golf courses are beginning to open their doors for business.  The St. Johnsbury Country Club opened Saturday March 20, 2010, and without hesitation, golfers showed up to tee off rain or shine.

Bryce Chaffee, St. Johnsbury Club Pro, said, "Saturday the 20^th we opened; it was one of our busiest we've seen it in two years. We had over a hundred players that day and everybody's attitudes and excitement level was up. Everybody was enthusiastic."  With the mild winter, the course emerged with healthy greens and no noticeable damage, making it one of the earliest opening dates the club has ever seen. The Kirby Country Club is also open and ready for golfers.
