Student Population Consistent

ST. JOHNSBURY - The student population at the St. Johnsbury School has remained steady over the past few years. The school's principal Marion Anastasia says that the number of students has been hovering around seven hundred and she does not expect that number to change.
The Vermont Department of Education, however, has reported that there has been a steady decline over the past few years in enrollment. School enrollment number are based off of the headcount on October first of each year. The state has seen an overall decrease in enrollment of just under 13 percent over the past 13 years. This equates to around 170 less students at Vermont elementary schools. Only one-third of Vermont schools have seen a rise in student enrollment over the past several years.
