Stickers
Many high school students are bringing a national campaign that started in Ohio to the Northeast Kingdom. Some local high school students are finding a new approach to raise awareness for under age drinking.Together Works Coordinator Tinalyn Caisse, says "it's a national campaign to involve youth in bringing awareness to different communities about the illegalities of supplying alcohol to minors."

The program is called The Sticker Shock Project and involves teens from Danville, Saint Johnsbury, Concord, and Lyndonville. They were given tee shirts and met up to sticker local stores. Some of the stores that are stickered are Cole's Redemption, Champlain Farms White Markets and many others.

Caisse says the plan is to go out into the community and use these stickers in different liquor outlets and stores. She also believes that many adults in the world don't completely understand the consequences that could come out of buying beer for minors.

Caisse said, "You've got to explain why and let them make their own decisions. It's about personal choice."

Sales for beer go up on the weekends and Heather Fletcher of Mobile Gas Station in Saint Johnsbury has noticed the stickers have sparked some curiosity. She says, "A lot of people asked what they were for and why they were on the beer, and I told them that they were trying to uh stop minors from getting beer."

Together works, and teens are also currently working on another project that targets parents throwing parties around prom season. They hope this project will be welcomed with the same open arms the sticker shock one was.
