Small Town, Big Issue

Monday, March 1st, 2010
Danville, VT
Voters in the small town of Danville will be voting on an issue that is both large and controversial. The voters will get their say in whether the request for Vermont Yankee to stop operation after March of 2012 will be denied or approved by the Vermont Legislature.

Vermont Yankee is located in Vernon, VT, along the Connecticut River and is the source of power for one-third of Vermont's electricity. The company has 650 employees that live in the surrounding communities.

The debate started when a radioactive Tritium leak was discovered in the ground water.

In addition to Vermont Yankee, there are several other issues that will be voted on, come Town Meeting Day.

Jenn Falsetti tells us what else will be on the ballot for Danville.
