Heart Health

Friday, February 5, 2010 marked another Go Red for Women Day, a day where red clothing is worn in order to raise awareness for heart health.  Heart Disease is often referred to as the silent killer in women.  The word silent is used because many symptoms of heart disease and heart attacks are very different for men and women. Chest pain is not always evident.

According to the Go Red for Women website, heart disease is the leading killer for women in America, but through women sharing their stories, more information being available, and by raising awareness through people wearing red, women and men around the country are trying to increase the knowledge and lower the statistic of lives being taken from this silent but deadly condition.

News7 reporter Chris Shadrock talks to the Coordinator of the Cardiac Rehabilitation Center at Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital for more information.
