Raffle Tickets for Those in Need

A raffle is being held throughout the Northeast Kingdom in order to prevent homelessness in the area. From April 15 - May 1 the Helpfund Committee is selling tickets at various stores such as: Lyndonville Agway, St. Johnsbury Hardware, and Aubuchon Hardware. The non-profit organization uses local businesses and the community to raise money for families in need. The participating stores were chosen to attract donations based on the prize, two cubic yards of compost, donated by Wormwise Compost.
Homelessness seems to be an overlooked issue in Caledonia County, and as Robin Kristoff of the Americorps Vista Agency of Human Resources said, "It's bigger than a lot of people imagine, and the idea is that it is, it's helping to prevent homelessness. It's specifically has been used through winter to help people who have been what's called particularly housed, and they are at risk of losing their housing; whether that be rent, or their fuel cost, which will effect their housing cost and their ability to stay in their homes."
