Lyndon Institute Closes for the Week
Wednesday, November 4th, 2009
One local high school has taken drastic measures to prevent the flu virus from spreading.
Lyndon Institute is currently empty. Classes have been canceled for the remainder of this week after 18% of the student body called in sick on Tuesday.
Rick Hilton is the Headmaster of L.I., and said there are no confirmed cases of influenza. The school decided to follow the Department of Health's recommendations by taking a strong preventative route and not risking the health of their students.
"It just seemed that sending them home to rest would be the best thing to keep them safe, hydrated, and to avoid close social contact", Hilton said.
Hilton has been the Headmaster for 11 years, and has only closed the school once before this due to a large number of absent students.
