Local Seniors Prepare for Spring Contest
A group of local senior citizens have started practicing for a tournament next Spring, and they expect to bowl over the competition.
It's a quiet afternoon at Gold Crown Lanes in St. Johnsbury, until Barbara Brown, Barbara Stamm, and a man who just goes by "Blue" start knocking down some pins. Stamm has some competitive experience, saying "years ago I used to bowl in leagues, but that's been like over 30 years ago probably". Blue is more casual in his approach: "Oh I just bowl once and a while for the fun of it, and the exercise". Brown remembers "back when I was younger, I used to bowl candlepins for eleven years... So this is sort of new to me". They will represent the Good Living Senior Center in a competition that takes place every 6 months against the West Burke and Barton Senior Centers.
