Past president of Kiwanis, Wes Ward, still finds himself chipping in as much as he can.

"We participate in other activities that are going on in the community such as the child ID program, we are involved with the bike rodeo, and so we try to stay involved with the kids as much as possible in the area but our primary focus is the swimming pool."

The Kiwanis club is also a global club, which means they are also looking to help the world. Most recently the club is very proud because today children are now protected against the invisible but at the same time deviating effects of iodine deficiency.  Kathy Fenoff, 2007-2008 past president, tells us about the actions Kiwanis is taking.

"One of our big projects that we just finished was a project for the Iodine Deficiency which all of the clubs all over the world worked on to wipe out and make children healthy, which we were able to accomplish. We are now getting ready for another major project where we will decide this summer at the annual convention in Las Vegas."

Kiwanis has many meanings, but Wes Ward explains what Kiwanis really means.

Wes Ward Talking about Kiwanis

"It's a international organization of clubs that do community service work mostly with children and the motto of the Kiwanis inter nations is one community one child."

As they are helping the world as a whole they are also proud of the auction because it goes for a good cause. The swimming pools keeps the kids cool during those hot summer months. Club member, Fred Laferriere, club member says, "Were just going to keep going the way we've been going for the last 70 years in that we offer free swimming lessons to the youth in the morning and then open swimming in the afternoon and in the evening everyday."
