Kingdom Animal Shelter Celebrates New Facility
Tuesday, December 8th, 2009

Aine Baker is a board member for the animal shelter and is excited to spread the word,
"We've been around for a while but this is our first location and this is our open house to show people what it's all about."
The Kingdom Animal Shelter is a completely non-profit organization and relies solely on cage sponsors and donations. Some of the current sponsors are Ben’s Boot Camp, Allen Fogg Insurance co, and The Community National Bank Branch, in Saint Johnsbury.
Cat adoptions are 50 dollars, but that doesn’t make up for the 239 dollars that Kingdom Animal Shelter pays for each cat on average.
The Vermont spay and neuter incentive program, also known as v-snip, charges a 25 dollar co-pay to low-income cat owners, and also taking care of the rest of the medical charges. Unfortunately the v-snip program might be facing some troubles ahead.
Sandy Butkovich, an Animal Shelter board member and volunteer says "it is a huge problem...it's really beneficial to the state of Vermont, and it's in danger this year. They want to change the program, so for anyone who has ever benefitted from the v-snip program, you know, if you could just contact your state legislature...say hey, you know this is a really important program, keep it going."
Just a 25-dollar donation will help provide vaccinations for one cat.
