The first significant snowfall of the season has locals purchasing winter supplies. The shelves have been stocked with shovels and salt prepare for this winter. Due to the recent warm temperatures, this storm has many people rushing to the store to pick up snow and ice removal supplies. However, different products may have an impact to the environment and your pets.

Alice Heighton explains some of the various products. "There are some products out there now that are more environmentally friendly and animal friendly. We have a safety paw particularly for dogs and cats and stuff that are gonna be out in the yard that will be going in and out that will be safe for them. And there are some that's also safe for the bushes around your house if you're throwing snow and stuff that are gonna be friendly to that and also to your concrete."

Local officials want to remind pet owners to make sure that outdoor pets have fresh water for the winter season.
