The months of April and May are the most prone to wildfires here in Vermont; and with the unusually dry winter that just passed, the fire danger this season is particularly high.

Scott Hubbard, the Fire Warden out of Sheffield, says, "Dry wood and grass can be found in many places this time of year, and can easily catch on fire and spread on a dry, windy day."

In fact, Hubbard went onto say that "The state of Vermont is predicting at some point that we could actually have a big forest fire", all due to the fact that we have not had a substantial amount of rainfall in a long time.

Hubbard asks Vermonters to use common sense when burning brush piles and tossing cigarettes to the ground, because these small tasks could turn a small flame into an uncontainable forest fire.
