Governor James Douglas was in the Northeast Kingdom Monday March 29, 2010, at Kingdom Kats in St. Johnsbury for a ribbon cutting.

Since their opening on November 1st 2009, Kingdom Kats has found a happy home for more than 50 cats.  Joyce Littlefield, Kingdom Animal Shelter President, was quoted, "We've been able to get a lot more animals, get a lot more adopted plus we have a volunteer base now that we didn't have and we've been able to address a lot of needs in the community."

Governor Douglas stated, "This is going to be a great edition to the community.  There have been so many volunteers

working for a long time to provide foster care for cats in this area, but to have a physical presence I think its going to make the program even more successful."

Even with their new location, there is still a waiting list for the cats due to the fact the shelter can only house up to 20 cats at one time.
