Depot St. Opening Doors

Within the last few months multiple new businesses have opened up on Depot St. which is showing the slow climb out of the recession.
Small businesses are the key to success in rural towns such as Lyndonville. With more and more shops opening up on Depot St. local vendor Malcolm Davis talks about how small shops can help bring back tourism.
"So there are people out there that want to do something for change and see what we can do to get Lyndonville, Vermont back on the map and get it going."
The price to rent space on Depot St. has declined which has made it possible for people to start their own business. That has brought down the number of vacancies on the strip, which shows people are pursuing their dreams. Zoning Administrator, Justin Smith, wants to see more businesses entering the strip.
"The space is mostly filled at this point and there are some pretty well established businesses in some of them so hopefully we'll continue to see that as a trend in our downtown."

Vinny Matteis, owner of a complex on the street, tells us about how small businesses have rejuvenated the strip making for a Depot St. comeback.
"The progression or the rebirth of the downtown area to help support all those businesses and the college and so fourth and people love to shop in a small town they get to know the people that own the business."
For such a short strip Depot St. is home to many small businesses and talking with the local vendors not only are they trying to achieve their goal of owning a business they are also trying to boost the economy in this town.
