Cooking Up Hope
After hearing the shaking news about the devastation left in Haiti after the January 12, 2010 earthquake, local students from St. Johnsbury Academy used the knowledge they learned in class to raise money for Doctors Without Borders, a humanitarian organization that offers medical aid to countries whose survival is threatened by violence, neglect, or catastrophe.

Students involved with the Hilltopper Café, hosted a benefit dinner on Saturday January 30, 2010, that revolved around Haiti, from the menu to the music and décor.

The 14 students who staff the café, were expecting around 72 people for dinner, the biggest crowd they had ever served. Sue Libbey, the manager of the restaurant, said that the community was very receptive and many called in asking for a reservation.

The students raised $3,600 for Doctors Without Borders overall.
