Town Clerk Donna Berry is in her busy season preparing for the up coming town meeting day

Concord is preparing for town meeting day and in doing so they will wait and see if grants will come and see 13 positions get filled.

The town of Concord will be having a pretty usual town meeting day according to town clerk Donna Berry.

"Nothing too big going on it's going to be pretty calm only a couple articles will be bring up some discussion."

Those articles are 24 and 25 on the town warning. Article 24 states:

'Shall the town vote to appropriate an amount of not to exceed $100,000 from the Connecticut River Enhancement Fund towards the purchase of a new town highway truck & plow? The balance would be taken from the Town Equipment Reserve Fund.'

The truck they have now is old and according to road commissioner, Karl Goulding, a new truck would make the roadwork much easier and efficient. With the amount of snow the Northeast Kingdom gets buying a new plow will make for safer roads for residents.

Another project Karl is working on is article 25. He requested a grant from the Vermont Emergency Management. That money would go to buying a $46,000 generator at the Emergency Shelter located at the Concord School.  He is hoping the state will help out the town by giving them the money they requested.

One other issue to note is Concord has 13 positions to fill. That's due to the fact some people have moved and others have resigned after doing it for so long. Charlotte Farrow was the town auditor for eight years and is finally calling it a career. Donna said she will be interested to see how the town votes on filling those vacancies.
