Chimney Fire

A fire was started Tuesday morning in Lyndonville off of back Center Road next to the Bona Farm. The fire was on the exterior of the backside of the house. It is believed too have been caused by a maintenance man who was trying to heat frozen pipes outside the home. No one was hurt during the blaze and the interior had only minor water damage. Two employees who work for the owner, Fred Bona, heard of the fire over a scanner and rushed over to help. Christopher Alger, a family friend said, "We got here and as soon as soon as we saw the vehicles here. We were afraid they might have been inside so me and Eric were trying to get in there as quick as possible and one of Sherry Bona who happen to tell us that they had come and gone and no one was inside the house so we lucked out there."
Lyndonville Fire Chief, Greg Hopkins said he was "talking to maintenance people around here it appears they were trying to thaw some pipes on the exterior with a torch and that appears to have caused the fire." It took fire fighters almost two hours to fully put out the flames and make sure there was no carbon monoxide.
