Island Pond Airport
Island Pond residents may not see airplanes coming out of their airport anymore. Instead they may see wood. The John H.Boylan State Airport in Brighton could be sold to Vermont Biomass Energy Company who would use the land to produce wood pellets.

The land the airport currently sits on is the only land, in the area, suitable for logging. The other positive side to the sale is that the location would cut down on shipping costs.

Many residents are unhappy with the idea of the airport closing. They feel that the closure of the airport would affect the community economically. Many residents feel like there is a plethora of other land that could be put to the same use.

Residents of Island Pond are in favor of the new company coming to the area, meaning that more jobs will become available for current unemployed residents. They are just not in favor of the location.

Jenn Falsetti brings us to Island Pond for the story.
