Santa Fund Is Up and Running

ST. JOHNSBURY - St. Johnsbury Firefighters work as elf's; packing boxes and collecting toys.  It's all part of the annual Santa Fund that the firehouse runs and organizes every year.

The fund is designed to help families in need, so that children can have presents during this upcoming holiday season. Over 600 boxes will be made and delivered to children in the area. In 2009 The Santa Fund filled 1,200 boxes that were delivered to children all over our region.

The Caledonian Record, with a partnership from Passumpsic Savings Bank, put out a registration form in the paper. Those who are interested in donating can fill out the form and will receive a box from the Santa Fund to fill. With over 600 boxes to make this year the Santa Fund is looking for donations. They accept new toys for any child from newborn to 14.

Fire fighters that work in the station have a list of all the ages and the children's names and from there they assemble the boxes putting different toys in the boxes depending on the age of the child.

People looking to donate can call the Santa Fund Hotline at 748-3000, or bring a gift to the Firehouse on Main Street in St. Johnsbury.
