Tom Salmon
MONTPELIER - Republican Candidate Tom Salmon was elected for his third term as State Auditor late Tuesday. He beat Democratic Candidate Doug Hoffer by over 13,000 votes. Salmon of St. Johnsbury, maintained a lead of a few margins through out the night.

Salmons campaign made headlines over the recent weeks after fighting Hoffer's supporter John Franco over the release of a State Police Cruiser video of Salmons DUI arrest in November of 2009.

Salmon says that despite the controversy, he and his campaign were able to win over Vermonters. He says that as State Auditor he will first try to improve the lives of Vermonters. "We just came out with a school performance audit and continuing with a very talented staff in our office. We've got a list of projects we're looking to focus on including improving performance in Government and therefore, improve the lives of Vermonters."
