WATERBURY - On Tuesday afternoon, the Vermont State Police confirmed the identity of the remains found in Wheelock as Pat O'Hagan.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy Monday on the remains found near Horn Road and confirmed the identity through the use of dental records. The death is being ruled a homicide and police are holding some details to maintain the integrity of the investigation.

Major Ed Ledo of the Bureau of Criminal Investigations said that finding O'Hagan has pushed the investigation into a new phase and the evidence recovered is being analyzed at the Vermont Forensic Laboratory.

The state police met with O'Hagan's family early Tuesday afternoon to inform them that it was indeed their mother.

On Sunday evening, the Vermont State Police were notified that human remains were found in a wooded area in Wheelock.

A $20,000 reward is being offered for information that helps police solve the case. Call the State Police Crime Tip Line at (802) 241-5355.
