Local Businesses Help Green Up Day
This passed weekend marked Vermont's first annual Green Up Day, and St. Johnsbury wasl be participating in this helpful community event. After the St. Johnsbury Selectboard canceled the event due to budget cuts several local businesses stepped in to help.
Green Up Vermont is a non- profit organization that's mission is "to promote the stewardship of our state's natural landscape and waterways and the livability of our communities by involving people in Green Up Day and raising public awareness about the benefits of a litter-free environment." The first Green Up Day in Vermont was back in the 1970's, and today St. Johnsbury businesses are donating goods and services to ensure that this day will continue as planned in the town. Cleanway Services will be donating money and resources to put on a barbeque in Rail Road Street Park for volunteers. All-Around Rental will be donating a dunk tank along with bouncy houses for children. Volunteers are asked to meet at 9am Saturday in Rail Road Street Park to get their green up bags.
