Foster Care

ST. JOHNSBURY - A new film about foster care in Vermont is hoping to make some improvements to the program. With over 1400 children in the state of Vermont who are in foster care, filmmaker Bess O'Brien has been touring the state showing her new film, titled "Ask Us Who We Are."

O'Brien wants to see some changes be made to the program, including a follow-up and check-up on foster children.

"One of the things that would be great to see is taking these kids who have gone through the system and are moving on with their lives and have matured some," said O'Brien.

The film follows a few Vermont families in the foster care system.  The movie shows the foster children searching for a sense of family and belonging.

O'Brien had two showings of her movie at Catamount Arts in St. Johnsbury.
