Eagles Soar Past Hornets in NAC Men's Championship

BANGOR, ME - The Lyndon State Men's Basketball Team earned their way to the North Atlantic Conference Championship Game this past weekend.
The Hornet's defeated the Thomas Terriers in their semi-final game with a three-point margin to enter into the NAC championship for the first time in school history.
The Hornet's who were second seed in the playoff brackets had to face off in the finals against the top seeded Husson University Eagles. The Hornet's faced Husson University late in the season winning by two. But the Husson's Men's Basketball team were not going to go down without a fight.
The Hornets were able to get up on the boards within the first few minutes of the championship game. But their offense was shutdown by the Eagles as they went on a scoring spree to gain a 16-point lead in the first half.
Phillip Warrick a Freshman Guard for the Hornets was battling back after hitting six three-pointers in the first half of the contest. The Eagles kept the momentum going in the second half as they out shot the Hornets the rest of the game.
The Eagles defensive effort held the Hornets to win the NAC Championship with a score of 84-73. Although the final match did not fair well for the Hornets, they had a successful season in many ways.
NAC Rookie of the Year, Phillip Warrick: "I think it meant a lot to the school. I mean they haven't made it there in so long and this year was just like a rebuilding year. So I mean for it to be a rebuilding year and we make it all the way to the NAC Championship, it should be a big thing."
Joe Krupinski the Head Coach for the Hornets said, it was a great year for them and it was great to be a part of the excitement. That excitement was the NAC Championship Game.
Warrick lead the Hornet's efforts with 26 points. Antonia Mena had a double-double were named to the All Tournament Team. Josh Jones netted 25 points for the Eagles, and was honored NAC Tournament MVP and NAC Player of the year.
