One local student has written and published her first book at the age of 17. Jessica Newby, a senior at Danville High School, spent six months working on her senior project, a book entitled Mother Where Art Thou? The book is composed of poems inspired by her mother's heroine addiction.

Newby said, "When she started doing drugs it kinda put me in a situation and thought, 'oh poor me I'm gonna go out and do bad things' and I just wanted to let them know that that's not the thing you have to do." Newby hopes to inspire other young adults with her story. The book will be available in stores on Mother's Day.
