AARP Discusses Future in St. Johnsbury

ST. JOHNSBURY - With the 2012 elections just a short time away, there could be big changes in senior citizen programs. The AARP of Vermont visited seniors at the Good Living Senior Center on Thursday where they discussed potential changes and questions seniors may have.
Topics discussed at the informational session included social security, Medicare, and other long-term programs that may directly affect senior citizens.
AARP Executive Director Greg Marchildon believes that it is important to inform people of change that may be happening.
"There's a tremendous amount going on in Washington D.C. about things that our members care about," said Marchildon. "It's an important way for me to talk directly to people and inform them about the changing nature of the debate in Washington and how it's going to have an impact directly on their lives."
